In 2017, a small team at a Minneapolis leather goods manufacturer noticed that the production process left behind a large amount of full-grain remnant leather — the best grade of the hide, headed for a landfill because it didn't fit the next pattern. They started turning those offcuts into our loop keychain, and the keychain built a loyal following that pushed them to expand the line. That's when Northwind was born. Today about three-quarters of our leather is still sourced as offcuts from larger manufacturers, and the rest comes in as full hides when a product calls for it. Either way it's premium full-grain leather, cut, stamped and personalized to order in our studio.

Our studio is equipped with both modern and classic equipment that allow us to apply our full spectrum of skills into our craft.
